Hansel & Gretel

Thetford Players present their 2026 pantomime, Hansel and Gretel, written and directed by sisters Frankie Soan and Maddie Stebbings.

In the grip of poverty, siblings Hansel and Gretel seek work at Victoria Sponge’s bakery before being abandoned in the forest by their woodcutter father, Jack Lumber, and their nasty step-mother. Starving and lost, they fall into the clutches of an evil witch who lives in a house made of gingerbread. With help from her two gingerbread sidekicks, the evil witch plans to fatten up Hansel before eating him, while keeping Gretel as a slave.

With help from their friend Colin, his mother Victoria, and their father Jack who has a change of heart, can the duo outwit her and escape before it’s too late? Get ready to cheer, laugh, and boo as our cast brings this traditional tale to life in true panto style. Filled with comedy, dancing, and live music!
